Salesman samples were often made by manufacturers to show potential buyers the design, functionality, and quality of their products. The sample is mounted on a wooden backing, typical of salesmen’s presentation boards. The wood is dark and polished, providing a rich contrast to the brass and glass elements of the hardware.
